Good afternoon School Board Members,
I pray this email finds you well and in good spirits. On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Southern Region of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will be hosting an in-person HBCU College Fair for high school juniors and seniors across the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area. The event will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center, located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse, College Park, GA 30337. We are expecting to host over 40 HBCUs, offering application fee waivers, on-site admissions, and scholarship offers to high school students in attendance. Lunch options are available for purchase by event attendees. Several dozen nonprofits, government, and business partners will be present to recruit students for summer employment, internship, mentoring and career development opportunities.
High school students are encouraged to preregister for the college fair using the QR code or event short link on the attached flyer and to bring at least five (5) copies of their unofficial transcript to the event. Schools are asked to register to support with operational logistics.
Additionally, we will be hosting our signature Heart of Gold Blood Drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross at this event. Students who participate in this activity will be eligible for several incentives including community service hours, door prizes, and scholarship opportunities. We will provide the flyer for the blood drive and parent consent form in a follow up email later this week. Students must be at least 16 years old to donate blood. Minors, 16 and 17 years of age, must bring a signed consent form to participate in the blood drive. All students participating in the blood drive must provide proof of age. Questions regarding our blood drive program may be answered by Raven Morton and Karl Calendar, both are copied on this email.
For additional information about our college fair, please feel free to contact Mr. Trevin Montgomery copied on this message. Thank you in advance for your support of this endeavor. We are looking forward to hosting the students of DeKalb County School District at our event.
Sincerely,
Leslie Elus
